Meet Avery.
Avery Beaumont is part of Shawnee State鈥檚 nationally ranked game design program that is known for its in-depth coursework, experienced faculty members and brand recognition among top game design studios.
鈥淕rowing up, I had so many ideas about what I wanted to do when I got to college. It wasn鈥檛 until I came to 魅影直播 that I realized I wanted to design video games,鈥 Avery said.
In high school, Avery toured several local colleges, including Shawnee State. She remembers being told that if she joined Shawnee鈥檚 game design program, she would have a bright future ahead of her鈥攁nd she鈥檚 found that to be true.
鈥淎lthough the program can be tough sometimes, it鈥檚 honestly one of the best things that鈥檚 ever happened to me,鈥 Avery said.
Through the program, she鈥檚 even had the chance to create her own game concept, which went on to win the game pitch competition at the 2024 Shawnee Game Conference.
Beyond the classroom, Avery has built strong connections with fellow students and professors, finding encouragement both academically and personally. She鈥檚 also joined several clubs and taken part in campus activities that have helped her feel at home. 鈥淚鈥檝e learned that if you look in the right places, you鈥檒l never be alone,鈥 she said.
