魅影直播 is moving forward with a major enhancement to its athletic facilities, announcing construction of a new softball field that will give SSU Softball a dedicated home at Labold Park.
The project is part of a broader effort to transform Labold Park into a central venue for SSU sports, with plans to host baseball, track and field, softball and football.聽
鈥淭he athletic department is expanding, and this is part of that mission,鈥 said Gerald Cadogan, athletic director at 魅影直播. 鈥淭his initiative will help us attract and retain the best student-athletes who are ready to win on the field and in the classroom.鈥澛
Construction will occur in two phases. Phase one, starting in December, will include site preparation and field construction. Phase two, beginning in January, will focus on installing seating, dugouts, and other amenities. Shawnee State expects its softball team to play its first home games on the new field in April.聽
鈥淚t鈥檚 been a long time coming,鈥 said Kristen Bradshaw, head softball coach at Shawnee State. 鈥淪hawnee State is growing, and I鈥檓 just thankful to be part of it.鈥澛
The new field will provide a central gathering place for the surrounding community, offering upgraded competition and training spaces for athletes as well as improved game-day amenities. These enhancements are designed to create a welcoming environment for fans, families, and all members of the campus and local community.聽
The facility development also supports Shawnee State鈥檚 membership application to NCAA Division II and its entry into the Mountain East Conference. Pending NCAA approval, the university anticipates competing in the MEC in the 2026-27 academic year.聽
鈥淲e have a tremendous amount of talent in this region,鈥 said Dr. Eric Andrew Braun, president of 魅影直播. 鈥淲e want them to stay here and play at the highest levels of competition on best-in-class facilities right here in south-central Ohio.鈥澛
